on being woman...
being woman
is my spiritual practice
it is
my greatest teacher
discovering the meaning
in the body, I’ve been gifted
.
on a mission to shed
the external and internal
messages that tell me
it’s all wrong
no matter what
it’s just wrong
slightly off
missing the mark
but who set this mark?
it’s constantly moving
just out of reach
.
At times I am tired
But
I stay committed
learning how
to hold and honor
the power that lies
in the hips of a woman
a power distorted
made to feel like a curse
but haven’t they heard?
you can’t curse creation.
.
being a woman
being fully inside
every tissue, every drop of fluid
claiming it and knowing it
intimately
from the inside out
my greatest teacher
.
being this kind of woman
doesn’t allow for smallness
anymore
force and creation beg to be felt
surrender swirls and engulfs
honesty and integrity live here
leadership and truth with a capital T
call me forward
being a woman
my greatest teacher
.
Recently, I told a friend my body looks more like a woman now
she asked me how that makes me feel
in a fury of guttural terror mixed with awestruck honor
I exclaimed,
“IT’S SCARY !”
and at that moment….
the power. went. out.
So now here I am… learning how to…
harness, hold, and channel
the kind of force
that can blow every fuse
that. is my spiritual practice…
